Objectives and competences

Goals

The goals of the Degree in Business Administration and Management are described below.

  • To train professionals capable of applying the following skills in the exercise of a profession:
    • Management activities.
    • Advising.
    • Assessment in organisations.
  • To train professionals capable of developing the aforementioned activities:
    • In an organisation as a whole.
    • In any of an organisation’s functional areas: production, human resources, finance, commercialisation, investment, administration and accounting.

Graduates must know how all these functional areas operate within the general context of a production unit, and within the global context of the economy. They must likewise be able to contribute to the smooth running of a business and to the improvement of its turnover.

Bearing this in mind, at the end of their training students must demonstrate that the following goals have been attained:

  • The ability to identify and anticipate opportunities to promote new projects.
  • The ability to assign resources.
  • The ability to organise any type of information within an organisation.
  • The ability to recruit, manage and motivate people.
  • The ability to make decisions.
  • The ability to design and execute actions in order to achieve the goals set.
  • The ability to assess results.
  • The ability to promote business development initiatives.

Specific competences

  • To set up and manage a company based on and in response to the changes that occur in the context in which it operates.
  • To perform the aforementioned functions in the different functional areas of a company or institution.
  • To draw up, interpret and audit financial reports for organisations and individuals, and to give advice about them.
  • To apply instrumental techniques to the analysis and resolution of business problems, and to the decision-making process.
  • To identify and interpret economic, environmental, political, sociological and technological factors within local, national and international contexts, and their effects on organisations.
  • To know the moral and ethical principles that apply to businesses, as well as the legal and social responsibilities arising from personal conduct and business practices.
  • To intervene in operations inherent to businesses and financial markets.
